The Automated Fingerprint Imaging Act does not include adoption or approval information. ALEC has attempted to distance itself from this piece of legislation after the launch of ALECexposed.org in 2011, but it has done nothing to get it repealed in the states where it previously pushed for it to be made into law.

Model Legislation

{Title, enacting clause, etc.}

Section 1. [Title}

This Act may be cited as the Automated Fingerprint Imaging Acl.

Section 2. [Definitions]

As used in this Act:

“The department” means the appropriate state level Department of Social Services.

Section 3.

The department shall develop and implement a statewide program that utilizes an automated finger imaging system for the purpose of preventing multiple enrollment or other fraudulent conduct of applicants or recipients of aid to families with dependent children and transitional aid to families with dependent children.

Section 4.

Each person applying for benefits related to aid to families with dependent children 01 transitional aid to families with dependent children must provide the state with an automated finger image conducted by the state, before receiving any additional benefits.

Section 5.

The department shall implement a program that utilizes any existing finger imaging system used by the department in order to implement this program in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
